Washroom refurbishment at Riverside East Office Development

The Development: In May 2013, main contractors Morgan Sindall got underway with the Clyde Gateway Office Development at the Riverside East site to deliver the £24m ‘Grade A’ offices. The offices are just less than 135,000 square feet spanning over 5 floors and will house almost 1,100 employees with over 200 car parking spaces.

The Washroom Spec: To ensure the washrooms were representative of the ‘Grade A’ office development, a bespoke system was required but this had to be achieved within a constrained budget. Interplan created the spec to offer the substantial but stylish washrooms within the budget requirements. The spec was value engineered from full Sylan to Urban with 27mm veneer fronts in American White Oak and 30mm full height HPL divisions to achieve the quality flush front look as specified by the client. The Urban system offers a washroom to make an impression that is also completely durable; it is free of fixings and doors close flush to the pilaster to enhance the sleek finish while the full height finish ensures maximum privacy.

To further enhance the washrooms, the vanity tops were made from Copper Black Granite, again to achieve the sleek finish. The Copper Black Granite was chosen to coincide with the building fascia ensuring the high standard of aesthetics was congruent throughout.

In addition to the main washrooms, male and female changing and shower areas were required. Interplan’s Splash system was specified for these areas; again extremely durable and hard working. The durability is increased by the structural head rail and through-fixed hinges. This is perfect for high levels of traffic offering a robust system which performs well in wet environments. Solid Surface vanity shelves were also designed especially for these areas.
